Thinners are typically solvents that can dissolve paint and reduce the viscosity of paint for use in sprayer applicators or achieve a certain mixture to work with. Choosing the correct thinner that is appropriate for the type of paint and method of application is important, if you are planning to spray paint onto a surface, a thinner mixture of paint is ideal while P\paint thinners for latex paints are not appropriate for oil-based paints and vice versa.
Thinner also works well as a cleaner that aids in the removal of paint on brushes, rollers and general cleanup of spills or splatters. These include acetone, turpentine, naphtha, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), and denatured alcohol. It will be advisable to check before applying the thinner to your application.
